Spring Tournament Results

Well a wonderful tournament and day was enjoyed by all on Saturday with the Spring Tournament 2010 seeing almost 95 people taking part in a wonderful day of impressive volleyball, great social interaction and good spirited fun at the Sports Halls in Homebush.

With two pools of play involving 13 teams, the tournament ended up with a C, B and BB grade of competition.  Many thanks to those interstate players who made the journey to Sydney and kept the experience a truly national tournament!

C Grade winners were the QF ROCKETS with SAFE SETS WHITE coming in 2nd and the KAIATA WOMENS team taking home bronze.

In the B DIvision, fresh from their success in the Cologne Gay Games, Melbourne GUMNUTS took out the Gold medal with CRAZY coming in with silver and SETS IN THE CITY gaining a bronze medal!

In the BB Division it was a great final with  the newly formed KINNAREE taking gold over a very determined SAOW IESAM and FREESPIRIT holding out for bronze.

Most Valuable Players were awarded, not only for their technical play but also for their contribution to the teams performance.

B division – Graeme Corrica from Team Crazy
BB division – Andre Nunes from LA iTeam

Thanks to all the volunteers and helpers on the day who assisted with everything from scoring to keeping the general mood happy and carefree and providing entertainment off the court.

A great presentation ceremony was enjoyed at BAR CLEVELAND and no doubt there were some more party stories emanating from the evening, but we shall leave that to facebook to reveal!

Special thanks to Amit Lie, master timekeeper and scoremaster who did a superlative job answering ALL the questions and queries that came forth and helped to make sure the tournament ran smoothly.
