Melbourne Spikers Summer Slam Success

Several Freezoners made the trip south to Melbourne over the Australia Day Long Weekend to compete in the Melbourne Spikers Summer Slam on Saturday 24th January.

A great day was had by many Freezoners who competed across A, B+ and B grade teams some joining forces with local Melbourne Teams to enjoy the competition. This year was the largest event for Melbourne Spikers with 21 teams across 4 divisions, their largest event to date. Freezone had 2 full teams including the Panda’s and Zephyr Stud’s in the B+ division, along with Seul Gi-Lee in the Aces Witches in A grade and Offie Worarat and Somkhit Jartnoi playing in the Itchy Bitchy Spikers in B grade.

The B+ grade saw the two Sydney teams in separate pools with the Zephyr Studs taking the Gold in the tournament. A grade was a tight tussle with 3 teams competing and each team playing each other twice before the final. Seul Gi-Lee helped the Aces Witches take out Gold in a tough final. Khit and Offie endured a tough B grade final against the local team Ballz On Fire losing narrowly in 2 sets.

It was another great weekend away with the Spikers, and the social aspect of the weekend was as always, fun and enjoyed. We look forward to the next event in June over the long weekend on the 5th to revisit and play again with our sister club.
